Isaiah 10

उन नियम बनाने वालों को देखो जो अन्यायपूर्ण नियम बना कर लिखते हैं। ऐसे नियम बनाने वाले ऐसे नियम बना कर लिखते हैं जिससे लोगों का जीवन दूभर होता है।

Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;

वे नियम बनाने वाले गरीब लोगों के प्रति सच्चे नहीं हैं। वे गरीबों के अधिकार छीनते हैं। वे लोगों को विधवाओं और अनाथों के यहाँ चोरी करने की अनुमति देते हैं।

To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!

अरे ओ, नियम को बनाने वालों, जब तुम्हें, जो काम तुमने किये हैं, उनका हिसाब देना होगा तब तुम क्या करोगे सुदूर देश से तुम्हारा विनाश आ रहा है। सहायता के लिये तुम किस के पास दौडोगे तुम्हारा धन और तुम्हारी सम्पत्ति तुम्हारी रक्षा नहीं कर पायेंगे।

And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?

तुम्हें एक बंदी के समान नीचे झुकना ही होंगा। तुम मुर्दे के समान धरती में गिर कर दण्डवत प्रणाम करोगे किन्तु उससे तुम्हें कोई सहायता नहीं मिलेगी। परमेश्वर तब भी कुपित रहेगा। परमेश्वर तुम्हें दण्ड देने के लिए तब भी तत्पर रहेगा।

Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

परमेश्वर कहेगा, “मैं एक छड़ी के रुप में अश्शूर का प्रयोग करुँगा। मैं क्रोध में भर कर इस्राएल को दण्ड देने के लिए अश्शूर का प्रयोग करुँगा।

O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

ऐसे लोगों के विरुद्ध जो पाप कर्म करते हैं युद्ध करने के लिये मैं अश्शूर को भेजूँगा। मैं उन लोगों से कुपित हूँ और उन लोगों से युद्ध करने के लिये मैं अश्शूर को आदेश दूँगा। अश्शूर उन लोगों को हरा देगा और फिर उनसे उनकी कीमती वस्तुएँ छीन लेगा। अश्शूर के लिए इस्राएल गलियों में पड़ी उस धूल जैसा होगा जिसे वह अपने पैरों तले रौंदेगा।

I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

“किन्तु अश्शूर यह नहीं समझता है कि मैं उसका प्रयोग करुँगा। वह यह नहीं सोचता कि वह मेरा एक साधन है। अश्शूर तो बस दूसरे लोगों को नष्ट करना चाहता है। अश्शूर की तो मात्र यह योजना है कि वह बहुत सी जातियों को नष्ट कर दे।

Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

अश्शूर अपने मन में कहता है, ‘मेरे सभी व्यक्ति राजाओं के समान हैं।

For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings?

कलनो नगरी कर्कमीश के जैसी है और हमात नगर अर्पद नगर के जैसा है। शोमरोन की नगरी दमिश्क नगर के जैसी है।

Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?

मैंने इन सभी बुरे राज्यों को पराजित कर दिया है और अब इन पर मेरा अधिकार है। जिन मूर्तियों की वे लोग पूजा करते हैं, वे यरूशलेम और शोमरोन की मूर्तियों से अधिक हैं।

As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;

मैंने शोमरोन और उसकी मूर्तियों को पराजित कर दिया। मैं यरूशलेम और उसकी मूर्तियों को भी जिन्हें उसके लोगों ने बनाया है पराजित कर दूँगा।’”

Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

मेरा स्वामी जब यरूशलेम और सिय्योन पर्वत के लिये, जो उसकी योजना है, उसकी बातों को करना समाप्त कर देगा, तो यहोवा अश्शूर को दण्ड देगा। अश्शूर का राजा बहुत अभिमानी है। उसके अभिमान ने उससे बहुत से बुरे काम करवाये हैं। सो परमेश्वर उसे दण्ड देगा।

Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

अश्शूर का राजा कहा करता है, “मैं बहुत बुद्धिमान हूँ। मैंने स्वयं अपनी बुद्धि और शक्ति से अनेक महान कार्य किये हैं। मैंने बहुत सी जातियों को हराया है। मैंने उनका धन छीन लिया है और उनके लोगों को दास बना लिया है। मैं एक बहुत शक्तिशाली व्यक्ति हूँ।

For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:

मैंने स्वयं अपने हाथों से उन सब लोगों की धन दौलत ऐसे ले ली है जैसे कोई व्यक्ति चिड़ियाँ के घोंसले से अण्डे उठा लेता है। चिड़ियाँ जो प्राय: अपने घोंसले और अण्डों को छोड जाती है और उस घोंसले की रखवाली करने के लिये कोई भी नहीं रह जाता। वहाँ अपने पंखों और अपनी चोंच से शोर मचाने और लड़ाई करने के लिये कोई पक्षी नहीं होता। इसीलिए लोग अण्डों को उठा लेते हैं। इसी प्रकार धरती के सभी लोगों को उठा ले जाने से रोकने के लिए कोई भी व्यक्ति वहाँ नहीं था।”

And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

कुल्हाड़ा उस व्यक्ति से अच्छा नहीं होता, जो कुल्हाड़े को चलाता है। कोई आरा उस व्यक्ति से अच्छा नहीं होता, जो उस आरे से काटता है। किन्तु अश्शूर का विचार है कि वह परमेश्वर से भी अधिक महत्वपर्ण और बलशाली है। उसका यह विचार ऐसा ही है जैसे किसी छड़ी का यह सोचना कि वह उस व्यक्ति से अधिक बली और महत्वपूर्ण है जो उसे उठाता है और किसी को दण्ड देने के लिए उसका प्रयोग करता है।

Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.

अश्शूर का विचार है कि वह महान है किन्तु सर्वशक्तिमान यहोवा अश्शूर को दुर्बल कर डालने वाली महामारी भेजेगा और अश्शूर अपने धन और अपनी शक्ति को वैसे ही खो बैठेगा जैसे कोई बीमार व्यक्ति अपनी शक्ति गवाँ बैठता है। फिर अश्शूर का वैभव नष्ट हो जायेगा। यह उस अग्नि के समान होगा जो उस समय तक जलती रहती है जब तक सब कुछ समाप्त नहीं हो जाता।

Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.

इस्राएल का प्रकाश (परमेश्वर) एक अग्नि के समान होगा। वह पवित्रतम लपट के जैसा प्रकाशमान होगा। वह उस अग्नि के समान होगा जो खरपतवार और काँटों को तत्काल जला डालती है

And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;

और फिर बढ़कर बड़े बड़े पेड़ों और अँगूर के बगीचों को जला देती है और अंत में सब कुछ नष्ट हो जाता है यहाँ तक कि लोग भी। ऐसा उस समय होगा जब परमेश्वर अश्शूर को नष्ट करेगा। अश्शूर सड़ते—गलते लट्ठे के जैसा हो जायेगा।

And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth.

जंगल में हो सकता है थोड़े से पेड़ खड़े रह जायें। पर वे इतने थोंड़े से होंगे कि उन्हें कोई बच्चा तक गिन सकेगा।

And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.

उस समय, वे लोग जो इस्राएल में जीवित बचेंगे, यानी याकूब के वंश के ये लोग उस व्यक्ति पर निर्भर नहीं करते रहेंगे जो उन्हें मारता पीटता है। वे सचमुच उस यहोवा पर निर्भर करना सीख जायेंगे जो इस्राएल का पवित्र (परमेश्वर) है।

And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

याकूब के वंश के वे बाकी बचे लोग शक्तिशाली परमेश्वर का फिर अनुसरण करने लगेंगे।

The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.

तुम्हारे व्यक्ति असंख्य हैं। वे सागर के रेत कणों के समान हैं; किन्तु उनमें से कुछ ही यहोवा की ओर फिर वापस मुड़ आने के लिये बचे रहेंगे। वे लोग परमेश्वर की ओर मुड़ेंगे किन्तु उससे पहले तुम्हारे देश का विनाश हो जायेगा। परमेश्वर ने घोषणा कर दी है कि वह उस धरती का विनाश करेगा और उसके बाद उस धरती पर नेकी का आगमन इस प्रकार होगा जैसे कोई भरपूर नदी बहती है।

For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.

मेरा स्वामी सर्वशक्तिमान यहोवा, इस प्रदेश को निश्चय ही नष्ट करेगा।

For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.

मेरा स्वामी सर्वशक्तिशाली यहोवा कहता है, “हे! सिय्योन में रहने वाले मेरे लोगों, अश्शूर से मत डरो! वह भविष्य में तुम्हें अपनी छड़ी से इस तरह पीटेगा जैसे पहले मिस्र ने तुम्हें पीटा था। यह ऐसा होगा जैसे मानो तुम्हें हानि पहुँचाने के लिये अश्शूर किसी लाठी का प्रयोग कर रहा हो ।

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.

किन्तु थोड़े ही समय बाद मेरा क्रोध शांत हो जायेगा, मुझे संतोष हो जायेगा कि अश्शूर ने तुम्हें काफी दण्ड दे दिया है।”

For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.

इसके बाद सर्वशक्तिमान यहोवा अश्शूर को कोड़ो से मारेगा। जैसा पहले यहोवा ने जब ओरेब की चट्टान पर मिद्यानियों को पराजित किया था, तब हुआ था। वैसा ही उस समय होगा जब यहोवा अश्शूर पर आक्रमण करेगा। पहले यहोवा ने मिस्र को दण्ड दिया था। उसने सागर के ऊपर छड़ी उठायी थी और मिस्र से अपने लोगों को ले गया था। यहोवा जब अश्शूर से अपने लोगों की रक्षा करेगा, तब भी ऐसा ही होगा।

And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.

अश्शूर तुम पर विपत्तियाँ लायेगा। वे विपत्तियाँ ऐसे बोझों के समान होंगी, जिन्हें तुम्हें अपने ऊपर एक जुए के रूप में उठाना ही होगा। किन्तु फिर तुम्हारी गर्दन पर से उस जुए को उतार फेंका जायेगा। वह जुआ तुम्हारी शक्ति (परमेश्वर) द्वारा तोड़ दिया जायेगा।

And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

(अय्यात) के निकट सेनाओं का प्रवेश होगा। मिग्रोन यानी “खलिहानो” को सेनाएँ रौंद डालेंगी। सेनाएँ इसके खाने की सामग्री को “कोठियारों” (मिकमाश) में रख देंगी।

He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages:

“पार करने के स्थान” (माबरा) से सेनाएँ नदी पार करेंगी। वे सेनाएँ जेबा में रात बिताएंगी। रामा डर जायेगा। शाऊल के गिबा के लोग निकल भागेंगे।

They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.

हे गल्लीम की पुत्री चिल्ला! हे लैशा सुन! हे, अनातोत मुझे उत्तर दे!

Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth.

मदमेना के लोग भाग रहे हैं। गेबीम के लोग छिपे हुए हैं।

Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee.

आज सेना नोब में टिकेगी और यरूशलेम के पर्वत सिय्योन पर चढ़ाई करने की तैयारी करेंगी।

As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

देखो! हमारा स्वामी सर्वशक्तिमान यहोवा विशाल वृक्ष (अश्शूर) को काट गिरायेगा। यहोवा अपनी महान शक्ति से ऐसा करेगा। बड़े और महत्वपूर्ण लोग काट गिराये जायेंगे। वे महत्वहीन हो जायेंगे।

Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled.

यहोवा अपने कुल्हाड़े से वन को काट डालेगा और लबानोन के विशाल वृक्ष (मुखिया लोग) गिर पड़ेंगे।

And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.
