Job 8

ایّوب، تا به کی این حرفها را می‌زنی؟ سخنان تو مثل باد هواست.

Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

ایّوب، تا به کی این حرفها را می‌زنی؟ سخنان تو مثل باد هواست.

How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

خدا هرگز بی‌عدالتی نمی‌کند. خدای قادر مطلق، همیشه راست و با انصاف است.

Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?

فرزندانت در برابر خدا گناه کردند و خدا آنها را طبق کارهایشان جزا داد.

If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;

اگر تو طالب خدای قادر مطلق باشی و با دعا و زاری به نزد او بازگردی،

If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;

و اگر در پاکی و درستکاری زندگی کنی، آن وقت خدا به یقین به کمک تو می‌شتابد و به عنوان پاداش، خانواده‌ات را به تو بر می‌گرداند

If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

و بیشتر از آنچه که در ابتدا داشتی، به تو می‌دهد.

Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.

از بزرگان و موی سپیدان بپرس و از تجربهٔ آنها بیاموز.

For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:

زیرا ما مدّت کوتاهی زندگی کرده‌ایم، معلومات ما بسیار کم است و عمر ما بر زمین همچون سایه‌ای زودگذر است.

(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)

از حکمت گذشتگان تعلیم بگیر و سخنان حکیمانهٔ آنها را سرمشق خود قرار بده.

Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?

در جایی که آب نباشد، نی نمی‌روید و آن را در خارج از نیزار نمی‌توان یافت.

Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?

اگر آب خشک شود، حتّی پیش از آن که وقت بریدن آن برسد، پژمرده می‌گردد.

Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.

عاقبتِ کسانی‌که خدا را ترک می‌کنند، همین‌گونه است و دیگر امیدی برایشان باقی نمی‌ماند.

So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:

این مردم به کسانی می‌مانند که به تار عنکبوت اعتماد می‌کنند.

Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.

اگر به آن تکیه کنند، می‌افتند و اگر از آن آویزان شوند، آنها را نگاه نمی‌دارد.

He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

شخص شریر مثل علفی است که در زیر تابش آفتاب تازه می‌گردد و شاخه‌هایش در باغ پهن می‌شوند.

He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.

در بین سنگها ریشه می‌دواند و ریشه‌هایش به دور آنها محکم می‌پیچند.

His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.

امّا اگر از بیخ کنده شود، دیگر کسی به یاد نمی‌آورد که آن علف در آنجا بوده است.

If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

بلی، سرنوشت مردم بی‌خدا هم به همین طریق است؛ و دیگران می‌آیند و جایشان را می‌گیرند.

Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.

خدا هرگز مردم درستکار را ترک نمی‌کند و به شریران کمک نمی‌نماید.

Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:

لبانت را از خنده پُر می‌سازد تا از خوشی فریاد بزنی.

Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.

بدخواهانت را شرمنده و خانهٔ شریران را ویران می‌کند.

They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.
