Genesis 43

قحطی در كنعان‌ شدید شد.

And the famine was sore in the land.

وقتی خانوادهٔ یعقوب‌ تمام ‌غلّه‌ای را كه‌ از مصر آورده‌ بودند خوردند، یعقوب ‌به ‌پسرانش ‌گفت‌: «به ‌مصر بازگردید و مقداری خوراک‌ برای ما بخرید.»

And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the corn which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said unto them, Go again, buy us a little food.

یهودا به ‌او گفت‌: «آن‌ مرد به ‌سختی به‌ ما هشدار داد كه ‌تا برادر كوچک‌ خود را با خود نبریم‌، اجازه ‌نداریم‌ پیش‌ او بازگردیم‌.

And Judah spake unto him, saying, The man did solemnly protest unto us, saying, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.

اگر تو حاضری برادر ما را با ما بفرستی‌، ما می‌رویم‌ و برای تو آذوقه‌ می‌خریم‌.

If thou wilt send our brother with us, we will go down and buy thee food:

امّا اگر تو حاضر نیستی‌، ما هم ‌نمی‌رویم‌. زیرا آن ‌مرد به ‌ما گفت ‌كه‌ تا برادر خود را همراه‌ نبریم ‌اجازه ‌نداریم ‌پیش ‌او بازگردیم‌.»

But if thou wilt not send him, we will not go down: for the man said unto us, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.

یعقوب‌ گفت‌: «چرا شما به‌ آن‌ مرد گفتید كه‌ ما برادر دیگری هم ‌داریم‌ و مرا به ‌عذاب‌ انداختید؟»

And Israel said, Wherefore dealt ye so ill with me, as to tell the man whether ye had yet a brother?

آنها جواب‌ دادند: «آن‌ مرد با دقّت‌ دربارهٔ ما و از وضع ‌خانوادهٔ ما سؤال می‌كرد. می‌پرسید: 'آیا پدر شما هنوز زنده ‌است‌؟ آیا برادر دیگری هم ‌دارید؟' ما هم ‌به‌ او جواب ‌صحیح‌ دادیم‌. از كجا می‌دانستیم او می‌گوید كه ‌برادر خود را به‌ آنجا ببریم‌؟»

And they said, The man asked us straitly of our state, and of our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye another brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?

یهودا به ‌پدرش ‌گفت‌: «پسر را با من‌ بفرست‌ تا بلند شویم‌ و برویم ‌و همهٔ ما زنده ‌بمانیم‌. نه ‌ما بمیریم‌، نه ‌تو و نه ‌بچّه‌های ما.

And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and also our little ones.

من ‌زندگی خودم ‌را نزد تو گرو می‌گذارم ‌و تو او را به ‌دست ‌من‌ بسپار. اگر او را صحیح‌ و سالم‌ پیش ‌تو برنگرداندم‌، برای همیشه ‌گناه‌ این‌كار به‌ گردن‌ من ‌باشد.

I will be surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame for ever:

اگر ما این‌قدر صبر نمی‌كردیم‌ تا به‌ حال ‌دو مرتبه‌ رفته‌ و برگشته ‌بودیم‌.»

For except we had lingered, surely now we had returned this second time.

پدرشان‌ یعقوب ‌به‌ آنها گفت‌: «حالا كه‌ این‌طور است‌، از بهترین ‌محصولات ‌زمین‌ با خود بردارید و به ‌عنوان‌ هدیه‌ برای نخست‌وزیر ببرید. كمی بلسان‌، عسل‌، كتیرا، ادویه‌، پسته‌ و بادام‌

And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:

پول‌ هم‌، دو برابر با خود بردارید. چون‌ شما باید پولی را كه‌ در كیسه‌هایتان ‌به ‌شما بازگردانیده‌ شده ‌است‌، با خود بردارید. ممكن‌ است ‌در آن‌ مورد اشتباهی شده‌ باشد.

And take double money in your hand; and the money that was brought again in the mouth of your sacks, carry it again in your hand; peradventure it was an oversight:

برادر خود را هم ‌بردارید و به ‌نزد آن‌ مرد بازگردید.

Take also your brother, and arise, go again unto the man:

امیدوارم‌، خدای قادر مطلق ‌دل‌ آن ‌مرد را نرم ‌كند تا نسبت ‌به ‌شما مهربان‌ گردد و بنیامین ‌و برادر دیگرتان ‌را به ‌شما پس‌ بدهد. اگر قسمت ‌من‌ این‌ است‌ كه‌ فرزندانم ‌را از دست‌ بدهم‌، باید قبول‌ كنم‌.»

And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.

پس‌، برادران‌ هدایا و دو برابر پول‌، با خود برداشتند و با بنیامین‌ به سوی مصر حركت‌ كردند. در مصر به‌ حضور یوسف‌ رفتند.

And the men took that present, and they took double money in their hand, and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.

یوسف‌ وقتی بنیامین ‌را با آنها دید، به ‌خدمتگزار مخصوص‌ خانه‌اش ‌دستور داده‌ گفت‌: «این‌ مردان‌ را به‌ خانه ‌ببر. آنها ناهار را با من ‌خواهند خورد. یک‌ حیوان‌ سر بِبُر و آماده ‌كن‌.»

And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring these men home, and slay, and make ready; for these men shall dine with me at noon.

خادم‌ هرچه‌ یوسف‌ دستور داده‌ بود انجام‌ داد و برادران ‌را به‌ خانهٔ یوسف‌ برد.

And the man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men into Joseph's house.

وقتی كه‌ آنها را به ‌خانهٔ یوسف‌ می‌بردند، آنها ترسیدند و فكر می‌كردند كه‌ به‌خاطر پولی كه‌ دفعهٔ اول ‌در كیسه‌های آنها جا مانده ‌بود آنها را به ‌آنجا می‌برند تا به ‌طور ناگهانی به آنها حمله ‌كنند، الاغهایشان‌ را بگیرند و به ‌صورت ‌غلام ‌به ‌خدمت‌ خود در آورند.

And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph's house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.

پس ‌وقتی نزدیک ‌خانه‌ رسیدند، به ‌طرف ‌خادم‌ رفتند و به ‌او گفتند:

And they came near to the steward of Joseph's house, and they communed with him at the door of the house,

«ای آقا، ما قبلاً یک‌ مرتبه ‌برای خرید غلّه ‌به اینجا آمدیم‌.

And said, O sir, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food:

سر راه‌ در محلی كه ‌استراحت‌ می‌كردیم‌، كیسه‌های خود را باز كردیم‌ و هریک ‌پولمان‌ را تماماً در دهانهٔ كیسهٔ خود پیدا كردیم‌. ما آن را برای شما پس‌ آورده‌ایم.

And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.

همچنین ‌مقداری هم‌ پول‌ آورده‌ایم‌ تا غلّه‌ بخریم‌ ما نمی‌دانیم‌ چه‌ كسی پولهای ما را در دهانهٔ كیسه‌های ما گذاشته‌ بود.»

And other money have we brought down in our hands to buy food: we cannot tell who put our money in our sacks.

خادم‌ گفت‌: «نگران‌ نباشید و نترسید. خدا -‌خدای پدر شما- پولهای شما را در دهانهٔ كیسه‌هایتان‌ گذاشته ‌است‌. من ‌پولهای شما را دریافت ‌كردم‌.» سپس‌ شمعون‌ را هم‌ پیش ‌آنها آورد.

And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them.

خادم ‌تمام‌ برادران را به ‌خانه ‌برد. برای آنها آب‌ آورد تا پاهای خود را بشویند و به‌ الاغهای آنها علوفه‌ داد تا بخورند.

And the man brought the men into Joseph's house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their asses provender.

موقع‌ ظهر قبل ‌از اینكه ‌یوسف ‌به ‌خانه ‌بیاید، آنها هدایای خود را حاضر كردند تا به ‌او تقدیم‌ كنند. زیرا شنیده ‌بودند كه ‌ناهار را با یوسف‌ خواهند خورد.

And they made ready the present against Joseph came at noon: for they heard that they should eat bread there.

وقتی یوسف ‌به ‌خانه‌ آمد، آنها هدایای خود را برداشته ‌و به‌ خانه‌ آمدند و در مقابل ‌او به زمین‌ افتادند و سجده ‌كردند.

And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves to him to the earth.

یوسف ‌از وضع‌ سلامتی آنها پرسید. سپس‌ به آنها گفت‌: «شما دربارهٔ پدرتان‌ كه ‌پیر است‌ با من ‌صحبت‌ كردید، او چطور است‌؟ آیا هنوز زنده‌ است ‌و حالش ‌خوب‌ است‌؟»

And he asked them of their welfare, and said, Is your father well, the old man of whom ye spake? Is he yet alive?

آنها جواب‌ دادند: «غلام ‌تو -‌پدر ما- هنوز زنده ‌است ‌و حالش ‌خوب ‌است‌.» پس‌ زانو زدند و در مقابل ‌او تعظیم‌ و سجده‌ كردند.

And they answered, Thy servant our father is in good health, he is yet alive. And they bowed down their heads, and made obeisance.

وقتی یوسف‌ چشمش‌ به ‌بنیامین‌ -‌پسر مادرش‌- افتاد، گفت‌: «پس‌ این‌ برادر كوچک ‌شماست ‌همان ‌كسی‌كه‌ درباره‌اش ‌با من ‌صحبت‌ كردید. پسرم‌، خدا تو را بركت ‌بدهد.»

And he lifted up his eyes, and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother's son, and said, Is this your younger brother, of whom ye spake unto me? And he said, God be gracious unto thee, my son.

سپس‌ ناگهان‌ آنجا را ترک ‌كرد، چون‌ به‌خاطر علاقه‌ای كه ‌به ‌برادرش ‌داشت، ‌بغض ‌گلویش‌ را گرفت‌. پس ‌به‌ اتاق ‌خودش‌ رفت ‌و گریه‌ كرد.

And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother: and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.

بعد صورت‌ خود را شست‌ و برگشت ‌و در حالی كه‌ خود را كنترل‌ می‌كرد، دستور داد غذا بیاورند.

And he washed his face, and went out, and refrained himself, and said, Set on bread.

یوسف‌ جدا غذا می‌خورد و برادرانش‌ هم ‌جدا. همچنین‌ مصریانی كه ‌در آنجا غذا می‌خوردند، جدا بودند زیرا مصری‌ها عبرانیان‌ را نجس‌ می‌دانستند.

And they set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians, which did eat with him, by themselves: because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians.

برادران‌ دور میز برحسب‌ سن ‌خود -‌از بزرگ‌ به ‌كوچک- روبه‌روی یوسف ‌نشسته ‌بودند. وقتی آنها دیدند كه‌ چطور نشسته‌اند، به ‌یكدیگر نگاه ‌كردند و تعجّب ‌نمودند.

And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth: and the men marvelled one at another.

غذا را از میز یوسف ‌تقسیم ‌كردند، امّا قسمت‌ بنیامین ‌پنج ‌برابر بقیّه ‌بود. پس‌ آنها با یوسف‌ خوردند و نوشیدند و خوش ‌بودند.

And he took and sent messes unto them from before him: but Benjamin's mess was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank, and were merry with him.
