Ezra 10

وقتی عزرا به حالت دعا در مقابل معبد بزرگ خم شده بود و با گریه به این گناهان اعتراف می‌کرد، گروه کثیری از قوم اسرائیل، مردان و زنان و کودکان، همه دور او جمع شده بودند و به تلخی گریه می‌کردند.

Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.

سپس شکنیا فرزند یحئیل، از خاندان عیلام، به عزرا گفت: «ما به‌خاطر ازدواج با زنان بیگانه پیمان خود را با خدا شکسته‌ایم. با وجود این هنوز هم برای اسرائیل امیدی وجود دارد.

And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.

اکنون باید در برابر خدای خود جداً قول دهیم که این زنان و فرزندان آنها را از بین خود بیرون کنیم. آنچه را تو و آنهایی که به احکام الهی احترام می‌گذارند بگویند، اطاعت خواهیم کرد و آنچه را شریعت خداوند از ما بخواهد بجا خواهیم آورد.

Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

این مسئولیّت به عهدهٔ توست. ما را در انجام آن رهبری کن و ما پشت سر تو خواهیم بود.»

Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.

پس عزرا از رهبران قوم و کاهنان و لاویان و بقیّهٔ مردم خواست سوگند یاد کنند که طبق پیشنهاد شکنیا عمل خواهند کرد و آنها سوگند یاد کردند.

Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware.

آنگاه از جلوی معبد بزرگ به اقامتگاه یهوحانان فرزند الیاشیب رفت و به‌خاطر بی‌ایمانی تبعیدشدگان، تمام شب را بدون آن که چیزی بخورد یا بنوشد، در ماتم و غصّه گذرانید.

Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.

پس پیامی به سرتاسر اورشلیم و یهودیه فرستاده شد تا تمام کسانی‌که از تبعید برگشته بودند، باید طبق دستور رهبران قوم در شهر اورشلیم جمع شوند،

And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;

و اگر کسی در ظرف سه روز حاضر نشود، تمامی اموالش مصادره و خودش از جامعه طرد خواهد شد.

And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.

طی سه روز، در روز بیستم ماه نهم، تمام مردانی که در سرزمین یهودا و بنیامین زندگی می‌کردند به اورشلیم آمدند و در صحن معبد بزرگ جمع شدند. باران شدیدی می‌بارید. همهٔ مردم به‌خاطر هوا و نیز به دلیل اهمیّت جلسه بر خود می‌لرزیدند.

Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.

عزرای کاهن برخاست و خطاب به آنها گفت: «شما وفادار نبوده‌ و به‌خاطر ازدواج خود با زنان بیگانه باعث گناه قوم اسرائیل شده‌اید.

And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.

پس اکنون نزد خداوند، خدای اجداد خویش به گناهان خود، اعتراف کنید و کاری را انجام دهید که او را خشنود می‌سازد. خود را از بیگانگانی که در زمین ما زندگی می‌کنند، جدا کنید و از دست زنهای خارجی، خویش را رها سازید.»

Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.

مردم در پاسخ، با فریاد گفتند: «به هرچه تو بگویی عمل خواهیم کرد.»

Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.

آنها همچنین گفتند: «جمعیّت زیاد است، باران شدیدی می‌بارد، ما نمی‌توانیم در این مکان روباز بایستیم. این چیزی نیست که بتوان در یک یا دو روز انجام داد، چون عدّهٔ زیادی از ما گرفتار این گناه شده‌‌‌ایم.

But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.

اجازه بده سران قوم ما در اورشلیم بمانند و به این موضوع رسیدگی کنند، آنگاه هرکس زن بیگانه دارد، در زمانی معیّن همراه رهبران و داوران شهر خود بیاید. به این وسیله خدا از خشم خود در این مورد برخواهد گشت.»

Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.

هیچ‌کس با این پیشنهاد مخالف نبود جز یوناتان فرزند عسائیل، و بحزیا فرزند تقوه که از حمایت مشلام و لاوی‌ای به نام شبتائی برخوردار بودند.

Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.

همهٔ کسانی‌که از تبعید برگشته بودند این طرح را پذیرفتند، پس عزرای کاهن از بین سران خاندانها افرادی را برگزید و نام آنها را ثبت کرد. در روز اول ماه دهم آنها بررسی خود را شروع کردند

And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.

و در طی سه ماه تحقیق کاملی در مورد تمام مردانی که با زنهای بیگانه ازدواج کرده بودند به عمل آمد.

And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.

اسامی کسانی‌که زنهای بیگانه داشتند به این شرح است: از کاهنان، به ترتیب هر خاندان عبارت بودند از: خاندان یشوع فرزند یوصاداق و برادرانش معسیا، الیعزر، یاریب و جدلیا.

And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.

آنها قول دادند زنان خود را طلاق دهند و در ضمن قوچی برای آمرزش گناهان خود قربانی کردند.

And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.

از خاندان امیر: حنانی و زبدیا.

And of the sons of Immer; Hanani, and Zebadiah.

از خاندان حاریم: معسیا، ایلیا، شمعیا، یحیئیل و عزیا.

And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.

از خاندان فشحور: الیوعینای، معسیا، اسماعیل، نتنائیل، یوزاباد، و العاسه.

And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.

از لاویان:

Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,) Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.

از سرایندگان: الیاشیب. شلوم و طالم، و اوری.

Of the singers also; Eliashib: and of the porters; Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.

و بقیّه: از خاندان فرعوش: رمیا، یزیا، ملکیا، میامین، العازار، ملکیا، و بنایاهو.

Moreover of Israel: of the sons of Parosh; Ramiah, and Jeziah, and Malchiah, and Miamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.

از خاندان عیلام: متنیا، زکریا، یحیئیل، عبدی، یریموت، و ایلیا.

And of the sons of Elam; Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Eliah.

از خاندان زتو: الیوعینای، الیاشیب، متنیا، یریموت، زاباد، و عزیزا.

And of the sons of Zattu; Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.

از خاندان بابای: یهوحانان، حننیا، زبای، و عتلای.

Of the sons also of Bebai; Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.

از خاندان بانی: مشلام، ملوک، عدایا، یاشوب، شآل، و راموت.

And of the sons of Bani; Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, and Ramoth.

از خاندان فحت موآب: عدنا، کلال، بنایاهو، معسیا، متنیا، بصلئیل، بنوی، منسی.

And of the sons of Pahath–moab; Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.

از خاندان حاریم: الیعزر، اشیا، ملکیا، شمعیا، و شمعون، بنیامین، ملوک، شمریا.

And of the sons of Harim; Eliezer, Ishijah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,

از خاندان حاریم: الیعزر، اشیا، ملکیا، شمعیا، و شمعون، بنیامین، ملوک، شمریا.

Benjamin, Malluch, and Shemariah.

از خاندان حاشوم: متنای، متانه، زاباد، الیفلط، یریمای، منسی و شمعی.

Of the sons of Hashum; Mattenai, Mattathah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, and Shimei.

از خاندان بای: معدای، عمرام، اوئیل، بنایاهو، بیدیا، کلوهی، ونیا، مریموت، الیاشیب، متنیا، متنای، یعسو.

Of the sons of Bani; Maadai, Amram, and Uel,

از خاندان بای: معدای، عمرام، اوئیل، بنایاهو، بیدیا، کلوهی، ونیا، مریموت، الیاشیب، متنیا، متنای، یعسو.

Benaiah, Bedeiah, Chelluh,

از خاندان بای: معدای، عمرام، اوئیل، بنایاهو، بیدیا، کلوهی، ونیا، مریموت، الیاشیب، متنیا، متنای، یعسو.

Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,

از خاندان بای: معدای، عمرام، اوئیل، بنایاهو، بیدیا، کلوهی، ونیا، مریموت، الیاشیب، متنیا، متنای، یعسو.

Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasau,

از خاندان بنوی: شمعی، شلمیا، ناتان، عدایا، مکندبای، شاشای، شارای، عزرئیل، شلمیا، شمریا، شلوم، امریا، و یوسف.

And Bani, and Binnui, Shimei,

از خاندان بنوی: شمعی، شلمیا، ناتان، عدایا، مکندبای، شاشای، شارای، عزرئیل، شلمیا، شمریا، شلوم، امریا، و یوسف.

And Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah,

از خاندان بنوی: شمعی، شلمیا، ناتان، عدایا، مکندبای، شاشای، شارای، عزرئیل، شلمیا، شمریا، شلوم، امریا، و یوسف.

Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,

از خاندان بنوی: شمعی، شلمیا، ناتان، عدایا، مکندبای، شاشای، شارای، عزرئیل، شلمیا، شمریا، شلوم، امریا، و یوسف.

Azareel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah,

از خاندان بنوی: شمعی، شلمیا، ناتان، عدایا، مکندبای، شاشای، شارای، عزرئیل، شلمیا، شمریا، شلوم، امریا، و یوسف.

Shallum, Amariah, and Joseph.

از خاندان نَبو: یعیئیل، متتیا، زاباد، زبینا، یدو، یوئیل و بنایاهو.

Of the sons of Nebo; Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, and Joel, Benaiah.

تمام این مردان زنان بیگانه داشتند. ایشان این زنان را طلاق دادند و فرزندان خود را نیز بیرون کردند.

All these had taken strange wives: and some of them had wives by whom they had children.
