II John 1

از طرف یكی از رهبران كلیسا به آن بانوی برگزیدهٔ خدا و فرزندان او، كه نه تنها من واقعاً آنها را دوست دارم، بلكه همهٔ آنانی كه حقیقت را می‌شناسند.

The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

زیرا حقیقت در میان ما بوده و هست و تا ابد با ما خواهد بود.

For the truth's sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.

خدای پدر و عیسی مسیح پسر او، فیض، رحمت و آرامش به ما عنایت فرماید تا این بركات همیشه در حقیقت و محبّت از آن ما باشد.

Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

وقتی شنیدم كه بعضی از فرزندان تو همان‌طور كه پدر ما فرمان داده است بر طبق حقیقت زندگی می‌کنند، خیلی خوشحال شدم.

I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

و اكنون ای بانو، خواهشی از تو دارم و آن این است كه به یكدیگر محبّت كنیم. من فرمان تازه‌ای به تو نمی‌دهم، بلكه همان فرمانی است كه از اول شنیدیم.

And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

منظور من از محبّت این است كه مطابق احكام خدا زندگی كنیم. آری، آن فرمان كه شما از اول شنیدید این است كه باید در محبّت زندگی كنید.

And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

فریبكاران بسیاری به سرتاسر جهان رفته‌اند، یعنی اشخاصی كه قبول نمی‌کنند، عیسی مسیح در جسم ظاهر شد. اینها فریبكار هستند! اینها «دشمن مسیح» هستند!

For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

مواظب باشید مبادا تمام كارهایی را كه ما برای شما کرده‌ایم، باطل سازید. برعکس، ما می‌خواهیم كه شما پاداش خود را کاملاً دریافت كنید.

Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

هرکه تعالیمش مطابق تعالیم مسیح نیست بلكه چیزهای دیگری را تعلیم می‌دهد، خدا با او نیست. امّا کسانی‌که به تعلیم مسیح وفادار هستند، هم خدای پدر را دارند و هم پسر را.

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

اگر كسی نزد شما بیاید و این تعلیم درست را نیاورد، او را در خانهٔ خود نپذیرید و حتّی به او خوش‌آمد هم نگویید،

If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

زیرا هرکه به او خوش‌آمد گوید در کارهای شریرانهٔ او همدست شناخته می‌شود.

For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

اگر چه مطالب بسیاری هست كه باید به شما بنویسم، امّا فكر می‌کنم بهتر است آنها را با قلم و مركب روی كاغذ نیاورم و به جای آن، امیدوارم شما را شخصاً ببینم و روبه‌رو با شما صحبت كنم تا همهٔ ما کاملاً شاد شویم.

Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

فرزندان خواهر برگزیدهٔ تو سلام می‌رسانند.

The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
