Job 14

Homo, naskita de virino, Havas mallongan vivon kaj abundon da afliktoj.

Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.

Kiel floro li elkreskas kaj velkas; Li forkuras kiel ombro kaj ne restas.

He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

Kaj kontraŭ tia Vi malfermas Viajn okulojn, Kaj min Vi vokas al juĝo kun Vi!

And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?

Ĉu povas purulo deveni de malpurulo? Neniu.

Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

Se liaj tagoj estas difinitaj, la nombro de liaj monatoj estas ĉe Vi; Vi difinis lian limon, kiun li ne transpasos.

Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;

Deturnu do Vin de li, ke li estu trankvila, Ĝis venos lia tempo, kiun li sopiras kiel dungito.

Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.

Arbo havas esperon, se ĝi estas dehakita, ke ĝi denove ŝanĝiĝos, Kaj ĝi ne ĉesos kreskigi branĉojn.

For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.

Se ĝia radiko maljuniĝis en la tero, Kaj ĝia trunko mortas en polvo,

Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;

Tamen, eksentinte la odoron de akvo, ĝi denove verdiĝas, Kaj kreskas plue, kvazaŭ ĵus plantita.

Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.

Sed homo mortas kaj malaperas; Kiam la homo finiĝis, kie li estas?

But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

Forfluas la akvo el lago, Kaj rivero elĉerpiĝas kaj elsekiĝas:

As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:

Tiel homo kuŝiĝas, kaj ne plu leviĝas; Tiel longe, kiel la ĉielo ekzistas, ili ne plu vekiĝos, Nek revigliĝos el sia dormado.

So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

Ho, se Vi kaŝus min en Ŝeol, Se Vi kaŝus min ĝis la momento, kiam pasos Via kolero, Se Vi difinus por mi templimon kaj poste rememorus min!

O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!

Kiam homo mortas, ĉu li poste povas reviviĝi? Dum la tuta tempo de mia batalado mi atendus, Ĝi venos mia forŝanĝo.

If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

Vi vokus, kaj mi respondus al Vi; Vi ekdezirus la faritaĵon de Viaj manoj.

Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.

Nun Vi kalkulas miajn paŝojn; Ne konservu mian pekon;

For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?

Sigelu en paketo miajn malbonagojn, Kaj kovru mian kulpon.

My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.

Sed monto, kiu falas, malaperas; Kaj roko forŝoviĝas de sia loko;

And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.

Ŝtonojn forlavas la akvo, Kaj ĝia disverŝiĝo fordronigas la polvon de la tero: Tiel Vi pereigas la esperon de homo.

The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.

Vi premas lin ĝis fino, kaj li foriras; Li ŝanĝas sian vizaĝon, kaj Vi forigas lin.

Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.

Se liaj infanoj estas honorataj, li tion ne scias; Se ili estas humiligataj, li tion ne rimarkas.

His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.

Nur lia propra korpo lin doloras, Nur pri sia propra animo li suferas.

But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
