II Corinthians 10

Mi mem, Paŭlo, petegas vin pro la mildeco kaj dolĉanimeco de Kristo, mi, kiu en via ĉeesto estas humila inter vi, sed, forestante, tre kuraĝas rilate al vi:

Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:

mi mem petegas vin, ke ĉeestante, mi ne kuraĝu per la insisteco, per kiu mi bontrovas kuraĝi kontraŭ iuj, kiuj rigardas nin kiel laŭkarne iradantajn.

But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.

Ĉar kvankam ni iradas en karno, tamen ni ne militadas laŭ karno

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

(ĉar la iloj de nia militado estas ne laŭkarnaj, sed potencaj antaŭ Dio por la deĵetado de fortikaĵoj);

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

deĵetante diskutojn, kaj ĉian altaĵon levatan kontraŭ la scio konforma al Dio, kaj ekkaptante ĉiun penson al la obeo al Kristo,

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

kaj starante pretaj puni ĉian malobeon, tuj kiam via obeo plenumiĝos.

And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Vi rigardas la aferojn antaŭ via vizaĝo. Se iu fidas en si mem, ke li apartenas al Kristo, li denove pripensu en si mem, ke kiel li apartenas al Kristo, tiel same ankaŭ ni.

Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ's, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ's, even so are we Christ's.

Ĉar eĉ se mi fierus iom supermezure pri nia aŭtoritato (kiun donis la Sinjoro, por vin edifi, kaj ne por vin deĵeti), mi ne hontus;

For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed:

por ke ne ŝajnu, kvazaŭ mi volus timigi vin per miaj leteroj.

That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.

Ĉar, oni diras, liaj leteroj estas gravaj kaj fortaj; sed lia korpa aspekto estas malforta, kaj lia parolo malŝatinda.

For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.

Tiu homo konsideru, ke kiaj, forestante, ni estas per leteroj, tiaj, ĉeestante, ni estas ankaŭ per agado.

Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.

Ĉar ni ne kuraĝas nin interkalkuli aŭ kompari kun iuj el la sin rekomendantaj; ĉar ili estas neprudentaj, mezurante sin laŭ si mem kaj komparante sin al si mem.

For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

Sed ni fieros ne pretermezure, sed laŭ la amplekso de la mezurilo, kiun Dio destinis al ni, por mezuri, por atingi eĉ ĝis vi.

But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you.

Ĉar ni ne tro etendas nin, kvazaŭ ni ne atingus ĝis vi; ĉar ni jam venis ĝis vi en la evangelio de Kristo,

For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:

ne fierante pretermezure, nome en laboroj malpropraj, sed esperante, ke dum kreskos via fido, ni kreskos en vi laŭ nia mezurilo ĝis plua abundo,

Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men's labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly,

por prediki la evangelion ĝis la regionoj preter vi, kaj ne fieri pri malpropra mezurilo rilate al aferoj jam faritaj.

To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man's line of things made ready to our hand.

Sed kiu fieras, tiu fieru en la Eternulo.

But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Ĉar ne tiu, kiu sin mem rekomendas, estas akceptata, sed tiu, kiun rekomendas la Sinjoro.

For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.
