Job 18

Odpovídaje pak Bildad Suchský, řekl:

Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

Dokudž neučiníte konce řečem? Pomyslte na to, a potom mluviti budeme.

How long will it be ere ye make an end of words? mark, and afterwards we will speak.

Proč jsme počteni za hovada? Oškliví jsme jemu, jakž sami vidíte.

Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed vile in your sight?

Ó ty, jenž hubíš život svůj zůřením svým, zdaliž pro tebe opuštěna bude země, a odsedne skála z místa svého?

He teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place?

Anobrž světlo bezbožných uhašeno bude, aniž se blyštěti bude jiskra ohně jejich.

Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.

Světlo se zatmí v stánku jeho, a lucerna jeho v něm zhasne.

The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.

Ssouženi budou krokové síly jeho, a porazí jej rada jeho.

The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.

Nebo zapleten jest do síti nohami svými, a v zamotání chodí.

For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare.

Chytí ho za patu osídlo, a zmocní se ho násilník.

The gin shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him.

Skrytať jest při zemi smečka jeho, a léčka jeho na stezce.

The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.

Odevšad hrůzy jej děsiti budou a dotírati na nohy jeho.

Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.

Hladovitá bude síla jeho, a bída pohotově při boku jeho.

His strength shall be hungerbitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side.

Zžíře žily kůže jeho, zžíře oudy jeho kníže smrti.

It shall devour the strength of his skin: even the firstborn of death shall devour his strength.

Uchváceno bude z stánku jeho doufání jeho, a to jej přivede k králi strachů.

His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors.

V stánku jeho hrůza bydleti bude, ač nebyl jeho; posypáno bude obydlí jeho sirou.

It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.

Od zpodku kořenové jeho uschnou, a svrchu osekány budou ratolesti jeho.

His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off.

Památka jeho zahyne z země, aniž jméno jeho slýcháno bude na ulicích.

His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.

Vyženou ho z světla do tmy, anobrž z okršlku zemského vypudí jej.

He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.

Nepozůstaví ani syna ani vnuka v lidu svém, ani jakého ostatku v příbytcích svých.

He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.

Nade dnem jeho zděsí se potomci, a přítomní strachem podjati budou.

They that come after him shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted.

Takovýť jest zajisté způsob nešlechetného, a takový cíl toho, kterýž nezná Boha silného.

Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.
